Overview
Ghorepani Trekking is popular for its breathtaking mountain scenery and the beautiful ethnic villages. This trek is easy to medium level of trekking. The trail offers you a walk along streams and forests and is ideal for those who are looking for a few days trek close to nature, yet it is not far away and involves no high climbing .You absolutely have no risk of altitude sickness on this trek. Ghorepani Poon hill trek is a colorful short foray into the Annapurna region. The trail winds through patchwork valleys, dense mossy forests and past icy waterfalls where you can stop to cool yourself. The trek starts from the beautiful village Nayapul, after an hour of drive from Pokhara. Crossing the suspension bridge over Modi Khola River, we ascend through ethnic villages and farm terraces enjoying the views of Machhapuchhre peeking between the hills. On the second day we walk mostly through woods before we reach Ghorepani hill. Next morning we make an early climb of one hour to the nearby Poon hill for the spectacular view of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Nilgiri and other famous mountains of the region, then trek to Tadapani which will take about seven hours walk. If you are on a short trip to Pokhara and want to unleash the adventurer in you without overspending, the Ghorepani-Poon Hill trek is just for you. It takes you along the ‘salt-trade route' of ancient times and through the unspoiled countryside of diverse communities.
Outlined Itinerary
Day 1: Drive Pokhara to Nayapul. Start Trek to Tikhe Dhunga (1491 m.) – 3 hrs walk
Day 2: Trek to Ghorepani (2855 m.) - 5/6 hours walk
Day 3: Trek from Ghorepani Poon hill to Tadapani (2540 m.) - 6/7 hours walk
Day 4: Trek Tadapani to Ghanddruk (1940 m.) – 5 hr walk
Day 5: Trek Ghanddruk to Tolka (1790 m.) – 3 / 4 hours walk
Day 6: Trek Tolka to Pothana (1990 m.) – 2/3 hours walk
Day 7: Trek to Phedi and drive to Pokhara
