About NEPAL
Nepal is well-known all over the world as the main spiritual center of Asia, so hundreds of tourists come here annually to meditate and to take in the special atmosphere of this place. Those who is not interested in that come here annually anyway to admire amazingly beautiful mountain chains, gorgeous temples and ancient pagodas. About 250 mountain peaks, including the eight highest mountain peaks of the world, including Everest, are located on the territory of this small country. Due to this fact, Nepal is also getting very popular among the alpinists and the mountain hikers. Even though prices on hotels and restaurant here are rather accessible, the way to Nepal is quite expensive because of the very long and exhausting way, sometimes even with some plane changes.
In Kathmandu, the capital of the country, transportation system is rather developed, so you can always find lots of buses and trishaws there (special local transport, which represents the three-wheeled vehicle), but nevertheless the public transport is usually too crowded (not only with people, but even with domestic birds and animals!), so the better way to move around Kathmandu and any other city in Nepal is by taxi. The only important thing to remember is that at the nighttime taxi is 50% more expensive. You may also rent a car, but don t forget that road traffic there is absolutely irregular there are no crosswalks, traffic lights and almost no one is following the traffic laws.
It s highly recommended to forget about shorts and to wear the high-necked clothes on tours and excursions, as uncovered legs, shoulders or backs are rather unaccustomed for the locals.
