The ramparts of Essaouria and the 16th century walled city offer astonishing views of the Atlantic Ocean. A day trip to Essaouria – one of the most charming medinas in all of Morocco – will give you ample time to visit the important monuments, the old fish markets, and the seaport. You’ll also have a chance to watch silver craftsmen and wood carvers at work.
The Program of the day :
For this day trip from Marrakech to Essaouira: We leave Marrakech at 08:00 am. After around 3 hours drive, we get to the ancient port of Mogador/Essaouira, built during the Portuguese occupation in a narrow peninsula with a huge sand crescent. Perfectly sheltered by stunning French-built ramparts of the eighteenth century, the city is within a walking visit distance and is divided into various districts designed in grid form. From the top of Skala you can see the colorful fishing port and the fortresses. Essaouira is also famous for its fine handicrafts, especially silver jewelries and wooden items (tuya) perfectly interspersed with lemon wood, ebony, nacre or copper or silver threads …
after a guided visit in the city and its’ monuments ; we take you to an amazing Restaurant, a former Jewish school with an interior garden, where you will have the opportunity to test the best Moroccan cuisine, After lunch you will have some free time for your shopping (your guide can help you with this if you wish)
Around 18:30 you get into the 4x4 and drive back to Marrakech.
