Day 1: Meet your morning arrival at Kotoka International in Accra Safe transport to your hotel in an air-conditioned SUV Refresh and relax. Neighborhood or city orientation as time permits. Overnight at a mid-range beach front hotel in downtown Accra
Day 2: Meet your guide at 8:30 AM and depart on guided tour of Accra Visit to Kwame Nkrumah Monument, Independence Square, Makola Market, Jamestown, W.E.B. Du Bois Center Overnight at a mid-range beach front hotel in downtown Accra
Day 3: Morning depart for Shai Hills Wildlife Reserve. Hike to the bat caves Stop at a bead workshop near the Volta River to watch this interesting handcraft Enjoy a waterpark at the Volta River with paddleboats and a water slide Overnight at a mid-range chalet on the banks of the Volta River
Day 4: Moderately strenuous 45 minute morning hike to Umbrella Rock for stunning vistas Scenic drive to Akaa Falls. 250 concrete steps to the bottom of the falls. Depart for Aburi Botanical Gardens and Aburi craft market (bicycles are extra fee) Overnight in an upscale guesthouse near the Achimota golf course
Day 5: Early morning departure, driving along the coast to the historic town of Elmina Tour the U.N. World Heritage Site of Elmina castle (video camera is extra fee) Explore the Posuban Shrines, Fort San Jago and fishing lagoon in central Elmina Overnight at a deluxe oceanfront resort on a secluded beach
Day 6: Departure to Busua, a wide beach that is one of Ghana’s most beautiful Afternoon beach hike or bike to Fort Metal Cross in Dixcove and the Stone Village Late day relax at the beautiful beach of Busua or walk around the village Overnight at an ocean-facing room at a deluxe beachhouse
Day 7: Early depart for the beach village of Beyin, near the western border of Ghana Canoe ride through the Amansuri wetlands to the stilt village of Nzulezu Enjoy the beach at Beyin and tour Fort Apollonia or optionally visit Axim Beach Overnight at an ocean-facing room at a deluxe beachhouse
Day 8: Early morning departure for West Africa’s only rain forest canopy walkway Crocodile ponds and weaver bird community at Hans Botel. Stingless bee facility. Onward to the fishing village of Anomabu – tour the old town, Fort William Overnight at an upscale beach resort (no TV)
