About Baku
Last century this wonderful city was sometimes called Eastern Paris , but nowadays, looking at all the gorgeous sky-scrapers and modern high buildings of the city, it more and more reminds visitors of Dubai. Baku nowadays is developing extremely fast, getting more and more modern look with every day, and at the same time it manages not to lose its charming ancient atmosphere of the old town and its carefully kept old customs and traditions.
All the sightseeings of Baku in general may be divided into three different parts: the Old Town, architecture of the Soviet Period and modern Baku. The Old Town of Baku is the exact place, where the history of this beautiful place begins, which is considered nowadays the main historically architectural reserve of the country.
In about only 70 kilometers from the capital of the country, is situated another popular local sightseeing Gobustan National Park, which is famous for its ancient rock paintings that are today about 10,000 years old.
The modern parts of Baku attract foreigners with their picturesque and large parks, unusual sculptures and, of course, the main sightseeing of modern Baku the Flame Towers that appeared in the city only in 2012.
The main things that everyone should definitely include in their must-do list, while traveling around Baku are: admiring the city from the bird s eye view from the Flame Towers observation platform, meeting local citizens and tasting the delicious traditional cuisine and famous local tea, finding the most delicious kebab in the city and buying the unique hand-made carpet on the vivid market of Baku to bring it home as a souvenir for friends.
