What is Japan currency ?

I understand that when visiting Russia I must "register" to get paperwork which I need when leaving. I was told a hotel can get this paperwork for me but if I stay at an apartment instead, how can I get this registration? Also, if I fly into one city but fly out of Russia through another city, will this registration paperwork still be good for me to leave? Thank you
