Day 1: San Francisco – Sacramento
Our trip starts from Sacramento, capital of California and the oldest city in the state. We will see the State Capitol, surrounded by a picturesque park of the same name, a walk through the old part of the city and look at John Sutter’s fort museum, built in the 40s of XIX century. First gold was found not far from here in 1848 that caused rapid increase in population in this region. Thanks to “Gold Rush” that started on January 24, 1848 in California, Sacramento got the status of city and then even became the capital of the state. In this unusual city we stop for the night.
Day 2: Sacramento — Columbia City — Sonora — Jamestown
Today we will go to the place where in the XIX century, the first gold nugget was found – the old mill of John Sutter. Here you will have the opportunity to mine gold by yourself! Do it at the first attempt is not easy, but we are confident that by the end of this journey you will become experienced miner! Then you will visit the abandoned mines full of mysteries, stalactite caves, and ancient settlements of gold miners, such as cities of Columbia and Angel Camp. By the way, the second one is associated “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County” of Mark Twain, as he said he had heard this interesting story in the hotel in Angel Camp in 1865. In this city you can still see frog jumps, that’s why it is often called the city of frogs. The next stop on our route is Senora, famous with it cowboy sceneries, and Jamestown, famous with its large collection of vintage steam locomotives. In Jamestown you will spend the rest of the day and night.
Day 3: Jamestown — Yosemite – Fresno
In the morning we will go to Yosemite Park that will impress you with its waterfalls, granite rocks, icy mountain rivers, mirror lakes and, of course, Redwoods forest. After walking through this amazing park, you will go to Fresno town near Sequoia National Park and stay there for a night.
Day 4: Fresno — Sequoia — Las Vegas
On this day you will have an amazing trip to “Giant Forest” – Sequoia National Park. This incredible forest with majestic trees, was also discovered during the period of the Gold Rush. The park is famous for the fact that there are the largest trees by volume in the world growing in it. The most famous and largest tree is General Sherman, it can be seen in “Giant Forest”. Age of the tree is about 3000 years old, the height is 84 meters, and the diameter at the base is 31.3 meters. Scientists claim that the sequoia existed in the Jurassic period and occupied large areas in the Northern Hemisphere. Now they can be seen only in California and Southern Oregon. This is a good place for them, because they can get a lot of humidity brought by fog from the Pacific Ocean. After this tour you will go to Las Vegas.
Day 5: Las Vegas
This day is fully focused on the city tour.
