Tour description:
The tour begins with a visit of Downtown: quay, “Star of India” ship-museum, USS Midway aircraft carrier, built during the World War II, the Gaslamp Quarter – a center of nightlife, where the best restaurants, shops, clubs are concentrated and San Diego gallery is situated, all of this you can see during the tour.
Then you go to the Coronado Island to visit the famous “Del Coronado” hotel. Loved by everybody “Some Like It Hot” movie was filmed right here, and the hotel, built in 1888, still attracts thousands of tourists.
Then we go to Balboa Park, which is a copy of the old Spanish town. This extraordinary exposition center was built in 1915 celebrating the opening of the Panama Canal. Here you can find 18 museums, several theaters, one of which is a copy of the famous « Old Globe», the theater of Shakespeare, open air organ, a Japanese garden, orchid and rose garden, palm canyon and, of course, the cactus garden.
Without any doubt you will be impressed by the Old Town. It is a historical heart of the city, which recreates the atmosphere of the first Spanish and Mexican settlements. At 1850 the population of San Diego was 650 people. Wild West, which all of us has seen in westerns, was exactly here. This place looks like a scenery for the movie, with a single difference that all of it is absolutely real: the Mexican mansions and old prison, the first school and shops that sell different interesting and unusual souvenirs.
At the end of the tour you will see the amazing La Jolla that means “pearl” from Indian. This European resort is famous for its amazing coast with rugged cliffs and caves, fur seals, which are happy to lie on the sand and wonderful walking street with restaurants, boutiques, antique shops and art galleries.
