About Atlanta, GA
Atlanta is the capital of the state of Georgia. The population of the metropolitan area is about 6.2 million. It is the birthplace of the Civil Rights movement and home to such world-class companies as Coca-Cola, CNN and Delta Airlines.
Access by air travel is easy, since Atlanta s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport is officially the busiest in the world.
Among the city s attractions are the Georgia Aquarium (the world s largest), the High Museum (designed by world-renowned architect, Renzo Piano), the Civil Rights Museum, the World of Coca Cola, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and Stone Mountain Park.
The city is ethnically diverse and so has a rich food culture. You can drive up and down Buford Highway and find a high concentration of ethnic restaurants, from Mexican to Chinese, from Vietnamese to Thai and Malaysian. Or you can visit the luxury restaurants of Buckhead and Midtown. The newest additions to Atlanta s food scene are the food halls at Krog Street Market and Ponce City Market. Each offers a huge variety of food choices in one building.
And you can visit both while taking a walk or bike ride along the Atlanta Belt Line, a walking trail that takes you through some of Atlanta s most popular neighborhoods.
Sports fans will not feel left out either. Atlanta has professional football, basketball and baseball teams, so there are sports events happening all year long.
Music fans will find a thriving club scene with rock and roll, hip-hop, country western and jazz. Plus, there is Atlanta s world-class symphony orchestra for classical fans. No matter what your interests, you will find plenty to do around town.
