Urla (Klazomenai) which is 35 kms to Izmir, is a touristic town. The ancient city Klazomenai was one of the twelve Ionian cities and its history goes back 6000 years without a break. After visiting old olive oil workshop see how it works in old times and a museum about the olive and the olive oil, it will be suitable to have olive oil tasting and get the idea about good quality olive and olive oil. Another place which is worth visiting is a research association that carry out some projects of marine archaeology. By visiting the place ,you can get the idea about ancient ships and vessels. As Urla is a seaside town, it is advisable to eat local fish and seafood. You may have a chance to taste homemade food with local herbs and greens in some traditional restaurants. If you are interested in drinking good quality wine, Urla is a suitable place for you. Wine tasting in 4 or 5 vineyards can be done in another day . It is advisable to divide your visit to Urla into two days as olive oil tasting and wine tasting.
