The history behind ostrich farming in South Africa is very interesting and well worth the time, and if you are brave enough it is possible to ride an ostrich! (weight and age permitting). We then make our way to Knysna lagoon where we join a ferry across the lagoon and explore the western side of the heads enjoying lunch on the way to a guided walk in beautiful scenery. Arriving back in Knysna late afternoon we set up camp and enjoy a lovely dinner.
Day 3 Stormsriver Mouth
Early morning we continue on our adventure and visit the Knysna elephant park where you have the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of these amazing mammals. Time permitting we may also visit the Tenikwa rehabilitation project where they are doing amazing work to reintroduce some of the big cats into the wild like the cape leopard to name one. We arrive at Stormsriver Mouth late afternoon and set up camp right next to the ocean, you have some free time this afternoon to go on a hike in the area. Be warned, the sunsets here will blow your mind!
Day 4 Stormsriver Mouth
Our morning starts in the Tsitsikama national park where we head to the parking area where you are able to hike to stormsriver mouth and walk over the suspension bridge to enjoy the magnificent scenery. Our day is then free to enjoy some of the many optional activities on offer whether you are more of an adrenaline junky and prefer bungee jumping or a moderate tree top canopy tour through the best indigenous forest South Africa has to offer.
Day 5 Addo Elephant Park
Today is an easy start where you have some free time in the morning to relax or explore some more or even fit in another activity. We leave our accommodation mid-morning and stop over in Jeffrey’s bay, South Africa’s surf capital, for lunch. Arriving at our campsite inside Addo national park we settle in and you have the option of a game drive before dinner.
Day 6 Addo Elephant Park
Entering the park at daybreak, we head off on a full day game drive in the park in our own vehicle where we try to spot as many animals as possible. The park is home to the big 5, which comprises leopard, lion, elephant, buffalo and our endangered rhinos, though they are elusive and the park is quite big we are sure to see many other species like eland, zebra and giraffe.
Day 7 Port Elizabeth
As all good things eventually must, our tour ends today and we make our way after breakfast to Port Elizabeth.
