About Maroantsetra
The small city of Maroantsetra with the population of only about a little bit more than 22,5 thousands of people is considered nowadays one of the most popular tourist travel destinations in Madagascar and, at the same time, one of the sea ports of the country. The city was established for the very first time back in the second half of the XVIII-th century. The entrance to the two main national parks of the country is situated exactly in the city of Maroantsetra, where at the same time is situated the administration of the both national parks. It is possible to reach the city of Maroantsetra either by plane or by ship, which makes traveling to Maroantsetra uite easy from the capital of the country, the city of Antananarivo. The road from the capital to Maroantsetra is not developed well enough, but nevertheless there are no roads, leading to the city from the northern and western parts of the country, so there is literally no other choice.
