About Athens

Athens is not only the usual capital, it is one of the most significant Greek cities, as this is the exact place, where the modern Greece and the whole Western civilization was born. The city has gone through a very large number of significant historical events during the centuries and since it was established for the very first time as a small Greek village, it has developed and changed quite a lot.
Modern Athens nowadays include the Old City, central districts, suburbs and also a large sea port. In very center of Athens there are two large hills, towering above the city with the famous Acropolis of Athens on the top of the one and the ancient tiny church on the other. Besides that there is an incredibly beautiful view, which opens up from the hills on the whole capital, where it is possible to watch both dawns and sunsets from the different sides of the hill, resting on the top, which, by the way, is considered a quite popular morning and evening enetertainment among the local citizens (especially the younger generation) and all the foreign visitors of Athens.
The city in general has such a large number of the most varied historical, cultural and architectural sightseeings that it is possible to spend the whole month in Athens to explore all of them in the smallest details. So, if you are planning the trip to the Greek capital, be aware that it may not be enough to stay there for few days in order to fully enjoy this gorgeous ancient city
