About Port Said
The city of Port Said nowadays represents an Egyptian city, situated in the North-East of the country. The city with the population of about 530 thousands of people is considered a rather developed one. The city of Port Said was mentioned in the local chronicles for the very first time in 1859 and, as it was considered a duty-free port it had been developing quite quickly, due to the quite successful production of tobacco, rice, cotton, developed fishing and food industry. Port Said nowadays is considered a perfect example of Egyptian architecture of the past times, as the major part of the buildings of XIX-th century is still carefully kept in Port Said. The ancient architecture, numerous historical monuments, narrow exotic streets, vivid markets and the famous port with the picturesque sea view annually attract hundreds and hundreds of foreign visitors to this city from all over the world.
