About Harbin
The city of Harbin nowadays is considered a quite large economical, political and cultural center, situated in the North-Eastern part of the country. The city was established in 1898 and since then it has turned into a rather popular tourist destination of China, famous for its architectural monuments and rather good ski-resorts.
Saint Sophia Cathedral is considered one of the main local sightseeing of Harbin and the biggest cathedral of the Far East. The Cathderal attracts thousands and thousands of foreign travelers with its Byzantine architecture and the rich history of this place.
The Buddhist Temple of Jilesi was built in the first half of the XX-th century and is considered the most significant sightseeing of Harbin, as it is the main sacred destination of the pilgrims of Northern China.
Besides that, the city of Harbin is famous all over the world due to its vivid Harbin Ice Sculpture Festival, which is annually held from the 5th till the 25th January. The Festival represents not only the great art exhibition, but also the perfect meeting point for the artists from all over the world. Such countries, as Canada, the United States, Singapore, Russia, Japan and many others annually participate in the Ice Festival in Harbin, creating more than 2000 huge ice sculptures on different themes. The best ice artworks are usually represented in the Theme park on the Sun Island of Harbin, gathering thousands and thousands of foreign visitors from all over the world.
