About Plovdiv

The Bulgarian city of Plovdiv is considered nowadays the most ancient city of Europe, which at the same is considered the second largest city of Bulgaria after Sofia (the capital of the country).
Plovdiv nowadays represents a city of contrasts, filled with the numerous ancient architectural constructions, modern buildings, cozy narrow streets and their charming atmosphere of the old times. About 200 of the city s constructions are considered the historical monuments and are carefully protected by the government. The oldest part of the city is filled with the narrow ancient streets and beautiful buildings off the XIX-th century. The old part of Plovdiv is one of the main prides of the local citizens that call their city one big museum in the open air.
