About Kruje

Kruje nowadays represents a medieval town, which is situated on the bank of Ishmi River and is surrounded by the great Skanderbeg Mountain of about 1400 meter high in some regions. Besides that the city also has an outlet to the Adriatic Sea in the West.
Due to the gorgeous panorama views that may be easily found on the ancient streets of the city, Kruje nowadays is even sometimes called the Balcony of the Adriatic and the word Kruje itself may be translated as the spring .
Nowadays the city of Kruje is considered the main national and historical center of the country, which attracts thousands of foreign visitors there every year. Most of all the city of Kruje has got its fame among the foreigners, due to its convenient location near the seaside, fast developing tourism and amazingly beautiful Kafa-Shtama National Park which has the territory of about 20 million square meters. The park has got its fame, due to the thick green forests, crystal clear lakes, numerous hot springs and the picturesque Kruje Castle, situated on the highest point of the National Park. The ancient cobbled street begins just near the castle and leads straight to the ancient market of Kruje, which attracts foreigners with its vivid colors, exotic noises, delicious scents and numerous hand made goods, presents and souvenirs.
