GRANITE CITY FOOD AND BREWERY headquartered in St Louis Park, MN (Nasdaq: GCFB, founded 1999) has increased by 1 unit, from 25 to 26 (4% growth).  These are family/casual restaurants with full bar and seating for around 250.  Lunch and dinner are served.  Per person check average is around $8-$20.  Locations are in IA, IL, IN, KS, MN, MO, ND, NE, OH, SD and WI.

Houston, TX-based IGNITE RESTAURANT GROUP has increased by 2 units for the Brick House Tavern concept, from 5 to 7 (40% concept growth).  The company also operates the 116-unit Joe’s Crab Shack.  Overall company increase was from 121 to 123 (2% company growth).  These are both family/casual concepts, with a $10-$30 per person check average.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Locations have a full bar and average seating for about 200.  Private party services are available.  Trading areas are AL, AZ, CA, CO, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, and WA.

Broomfield, CO-based NOODLES & CO (founded 1995) has increased by 4 units, from 229 to 233 (2% growth).  These restaurants are fast casual, open for lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is $6-$12, serving beer and wine in most locations (some have full bar).  Average unit seats about 90.  Trading areas are CA, CO, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NE, OH, OR, UT, VA, and WI.  We featured this company on 3/10/09 (6% growth), 7/14/09 (2% growth), and on 12/22/09 (8% growth).
FIRST WATCH RESTAURANTS based in Bradenton, FL (founded 1983) has increased by 2 units, from 80 to 82 (3% growth).  These are family/casual restaurants with seating for around 150.  Meal periods are breakfast and lunch.  Per person check average is around $3-$8.  Locations are in AZ, FL, KS, KY, MD, MO, OH, OK, PA, VA and WV.  We last reported on this concept on 11/17/09 when they had (3% growth).
Denver, CO-based SMASHBURGER (founded 2007) has increased by 30 units, from 35 to 65 (86% growth) and entered into CA and KY.  This is a fast casual burger concept, open for lunch and dinner, with a $6-$12 per person check average.  Locations serve beer and wine, with seating for about 70.  Online ordering is available.  All units are franchised and located in AZ, CA, CO, IA, ID, KS, KY, MN, NE, NJ, NV, OH, OK, TX, and UT, with a Shreveport, LA location to open later this month.  We featured this company on 12/30/08 (80% growth), 5/5/09 (33% growth), 9/8/09 (142% growth), and on 1/12/10 (21% growth).  Smashburger also ranked #1 on our October 2009 Top Ten Fastest Growing Concepts list.
LM RESTAURANTS based in Raleigh, NC (founded 1999) has increased by 1 unit for Carolina Ale House, from 11 to 12 (9% concept growth).  Other company concepts are Bentley's American Grill (1), Bluewater Waterfront Grill (1), Eddie Romanelli's (2), Henry's (1), Oceanic Oceanfront Dining (1) and Taverna Agora (1).  Overall company increase is from 18 to 19 (6% growth).  Concepts are family/casual with full bar and seating for around 300.  Lunch and dinner are served.  Catering is offered.
