Fly to New York in the Morning and Back Home in the Evening

Senator Rockefeller and Governor Manchin greet first nonstop jet flight from Big Apple to Charleston, West Virginia

American Eagle Airlines, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, began nonstop jet service this evening between New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and Charleston, W. Va. (CRW).

American Eagle is operating the service with 37-seat Embraer ERJ-135 jets.

"All of us at American Eagle are excited to start service between Charleston and New York's LaGuardia airport, which is just 20 minutes from the heart of Manhattan," said American Eagle President and CEO Peter Bowler. "With our new nonstop service, you can fly to New York in the morning and back home in the evening."

"Transportation must always be a key economic priority for West Virginia," said Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-W. Va.), Chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. "I worked with American Airlines to secure this direct flight because I know that when it comes to attracting investments from around the world, it is crucial that West Virginia have direct and reliable air service."

"This is a great addition to West Virginia," Gov. Joe Manchin said. "This flight provides a direct connection between the world financial marketplace and our state, while also giving West Virginians access to tourism and economic markets that we previously did not have direct access to. We are very excited about this venture."

American and American Eagle currently offer nonstop service to 63 destinations on 222 daily flights from four New York area airports, with 100 daily flights from LaGuardia.
