Malev Comes Back To Saint Petersburg Almost A Decade After

Hungarian national carrier has restarted its route to one of the largest urban centers in Russia

Malev's new scheduled flight touched down at Pulkovo airport, St. Petersburg in the early evening. After nearly a decade the Hungarian national carrier has restarted its route to one of the largest urban centers in Russia. Flights operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, during the high season, between 22 April and 21 October.

The first Malev aircraft was received at Pulkovo airport in a ceremony marking the inauguration of the service. This event was attended by senior executives of Malev and the airport as well as by György Gilián, Hungary's ambassador in Moscow. Speaking on behalf of Malev, Chief Operational Officer Géza Fehérváry emphasized the market opportunities inherent in the flight. "The St. Petersburg service brings new customers to Malev, because there is great interest among Hungarian tourists in the city, filled as it is with unparalleled sights and a vibrant cultural life. Furthermore, we are confident that many tourists from this part of Russia will be interested in visiting Hungary. It is particularly pleasing that we are able to provide a timetable that is ideal both for Hungarian and Russian travellers."

Malev runs two weekly services to St. Petersburg. The scheduling of these flights is perfect for individual travellers and for agencies organizing tours to both Budapest and St. Petersburg.

Malev launched it's first service between Budapest and the Russian city in 1970, the flight had been operated continually for 30 years.
