Laos is the absolutely exotic and a little bit wild neighbor of Vietnam and Thailand. The country doesn t have an outlet to the sea, but nevertheless it owns a very large number of ancient temples, hidden in the tropical forests, picturesque mountain peaks, rich wild world and distinctive lifestyle of the local population.
The official name of the country is the Lao People s Democratic Republic. It s considered nowadays one of the poorest, but anyway the most mysterious countries of the South-Eastern Asia. The country was formed in XIV-th century and nowadays it attracts thousands of foreigners with its ancient traditions, numerous temples, thick impassable jungles and endless mountainous landscapes.
Vientiane is considered the capital of the country, but besides that, the list of other popular large tourist destinations of the country includes the cities of Luang Prabang, Savannakhet, Vang Vieng and Luang Namtha.
The capital of the country represents a small cozy town with numerous gorgeous temples and unique vivid markets, where it is possible to find anything it is ever possible to wish for. Luang Prabang is the ancient former capital of the country, which is included in UNESCO World Heritage List since 1995. The city owns a large number of ancient monasteries and temples, unusual pagodas and even few museums.
Tourism in Laos in general is not popular enough, even though it s rapidly developing nowadays. That is the main reason why it is still rather difficult to get into some of the local national parks and is possible only with the help of the official private tour guide.
