There is a very large number of various reasons, why travelers from all over the world come annually to Finland to spend their vacation exactly there. For example, to celebrate the New Year s Day in the local countryside with the funny deer and local Santa Clause, whose name is difficult to remember, to live in the charming winter forest in the tiny cabin and to admire the amazing northern lights, to cross the frozen lake or to explore one of its skiing centers that, by the way, are generally intended more for the beginners that for professional skiers.
The capital of the country is the city of Helsinki, which represents a rather modern European city, which combines the modern city views and amazing natural landscapes of thick forests, endless sea and medieval fortresses.
All the sightseeings of the country in general may be divided into two parts natural and cultural ones. Of course, the first things that always impress the foreign visitors are the ones, related to its amazing landscapes, including the picturesque thick forests, large crystal clear lakes, islands and valleys that mostly belong to the national parks areas. The biggest one is situated in Lapland and offers its visitors a possibility to know its wild world better due to the numerous hiking and observation tours, where it is possible to watch real wolves, bears and other forest s dwellers in their natural habitat.
The main things that everyone should do while staying in Finland are: starting to believe in Santa Claus and visiting him at his house in Lapland, catching at least one trout on the fishing tour in the national park, tasting the amazing local cuisine, listening to the live music in the church, built straight in the rock, testing the local ski-resorts, spending a night in the ice hotel and bringing back home a statuette of an elk or a moomin, as they both are considered the symbols of the country.
