KALIMANTAN JUNGLE TREKKING AND ROCK CLIMBING

Duration: 07 Days/06 Nights
Grade: Moderate


Meratus Mountain lies from the northern to southern of South Borneo with the highest peak is on Mount Besar, the area is covered by lush tropical rainforest, rivers, mossy stones, and tremendous waterfall. The range is inhabited by the Bukit Dayak ethnic, most of them are still maintaining the ancestor belief and tradition, such as; nomadic farming, animals hunting, and ritual ceremonies as part of their life. They are living on longhouses as the center of ritual ceremonies and community. The longhouse here is rather different with other longhouse in all places of Borneo, it is a rectangle building where family rooms all over the building surrounding the communal veranda in the middle.

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN
Meet at airport and directly transfer to hotel for check in. Next, exploring Banjarese river civilization by taking an afternoon canal sightseeing. Afterwards, return to hotel for overnight. Free at your own leisure. (D)

Day 02 FLOATING MARKET – PANDAK DAUN – LOKSADO
Early in the morning, we will leave to floating market for exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Breakfast at hotel, then continue our trip to visit Pandak Daun swamp village for observing water buffaloes swim to the stall and villagers' unique activities as well as enjoying the romantic sunset outlook. Afterwards, proceed to Loksado for overnight on lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 03 RAINFOREST TREKKING
After breakfast at lodge, we will be trekking up to monitoring tower in the mouth of Kadayang virgin forest crossing secondary rainforest, hills, hanging and suspended bamboo bridges, villager farmlands, rivers and cascades, longhouses, cinnamon and rubber trees. In the evening, we can explore the nocturnal animal activities from the tower. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on monitoring tower. (B,L,D)

Day 04 RAINFOREST TREKKING
Exploring flora and fauna of the jungle, then proceed to Loksado through different trail crossing secondary rainforest, hills, waterfall, hanging and suspended bamboo bridges, villager farmlands, rivers and cascades, longhouses, cinnamon and rubber trees. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 05 BAMBOO RAFTING - BATULAKI
After breakfast, we will take an adventure trip of bamboo rafting across beautiful landscape of tropical rainforest along the Amandit riverside meanwhile our coach will be waiting on the downstream for transferring to Batulaki hill for setting a campsite near the cliff. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent. (B,L,D)

Day 06 ROCK CLIMBING – KANDANGAN
We will get a full day rock climbing on the limestone cliff of Batulaki hill with various challenging grades and routes. We will start our climbing from bamboo rafts caused the cliff stands on the river. Here, we can also bathe and swim after a hard climbing since the river is so fresh and beautiful. In the afternoon, we will drive to Kandangan for overnight on a nice simple hotel. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on lodge. (B,L,D)

Day 07 KANDANGAN – DEPARTURE
Breakfast at hotel and free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to airport for your next destination. (B)
